چکیده

Reverse halo sign (RHS), also called the atoll sign, was described as a rim of consolidation surrounding a center of ground-glass opacity on computed tomography (CT). Although RHS was previously considered as non-specific sign for various disorders, recent study showed that it is a strong indicator of pulmonary mucormycosis (PM). We present a case of PM with typical imaging presentation on CT, which highlights the importance of RHS in predicting PM, especially in patients with acute leukemia and immunocompromised status.

Reversed Halo Sign: Presents in Different Pulmonary Diseases

OBJECTIVE To observe the incidence of reversed halo sign in different pulmonary diseases and the pathological correspondence of reversed halo sign. METHODS Retrospectively studied the high resolution computer tomography scans of all the patients who were admitted in our department with abnormal pulmonary imaging, from 1st of January 2011 to 31st of December 2013, and all the cases with revers...

Importance of the reversed halo sign for the diagnosis of angioinvasive pulmonary aspergillosis.

We are very grateful for the interest Marchiori et al. have shown in our recently submitted article, Airway and parenchymal manifestations of pulmonary aspergillosis [1]. We also read with interest their fascinating study highlighting morphologic features of the reverse halo sign, which in the correct clinical context, may alert the radiologist to the presence of a possible invasive fungal infe...

The diagnostic value of halo and reversed halo signs for invasive mold infections in compromised hosts.

The halo sign is a CT finding of ground-glass opacity surrounding a pulmonary nodule or mass. The reversed halo sign is a focal rounded area of ground-glass opacity surrounded by a crescent or complete ring of consolidation. In severely immunocompromised patients, these signs are highly suggestive of early infection by an angioinvasive fungus. The halo sign and reversed halo sign are most commo...

A rare case of primary pulmonary diffuse large B cell lymphoma with CD5 positive expression

Primary pulmonary diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (PPDLBCL) is extremely rare. Its clinical symptoms and signs are nonspe cific, and imaging features also have not yet been well-defined. Further description is important for the diagnosis and treatment of PPDLBCL. Herein, we reported a case of a patient who suffered from bilateral chest pain and dyspnea. Computed tomography (CT) of chest demonstra...

Reversed halo sign in invasive pulmonary fungal infections.

Computed tomography scans of documented pulmonary mold infections were reviewed for the presence of the reversed halo sign, a focus of ground-glass attenuation surrounded by a solid ring. The reversed halo sign was an early sign, seen in approximately 4% of patients with pulmonary mold infections, usually with zygomycosis.
